last game of the season

Posted by greglarson in family, sports at 4:24 pm | Permanent Link

well, it is Caleb’s last game of the season today.

He made the JV team for the high school team, which was quite an accomplishment — considering there are close to 3,500 kids that go to that school. (and tons of kids play soccer!)
Speaking of the school (John Marshall High School) - from the outside, it […]

Posted by greglarson in Los Angeles, family at 12:25 pm | Permanent Link

Not sure how much (if anything) that have I mentioned regarding this, but our local neighborhood (East Hollywood) had an election for the neighborhood council a while back.

There was the seat on the council for a youth representative, and Caleb ran for that seat & won! I was so proud of him, that he was […]

Sorry, I have been away — it has been extremely frustrating with my laptop lately. It seems that my 3 year old Compaq presario’s screen is dying, and so am borrowing an external screen to get by…. I was told that the problem might be “either a faulty connection between the inverter and the fluorescent […]

the opera & such

So one of the benefits of the kids going to LAUSD schools, is that at times they get unbelievable cultural opportunities. One such opportunity here last week was Caleb got to go to the LA Opera’s performance of La Boheme.

He said that where he sat, the teacher mentioned that the seats were $200/seat.
Speaking of opera […]

I know, I know — I probably talk too much about my family, but here goes again. Caleb just got done with one Hollywood neighborhood soccer league, and now the high school season is starting for him. It is a great way for him (& for the family) — to meet people in the area, […]

I want to say thanks to the Kairos community. You have welcomed & blessed my family since day one when we arrived here in LA. Thank you. This place & church has allowed our family to minister together in different ways & we are grateful.
- I think of the 16 or so people that we […]

Proverbs

Posted by greglarson in family at 6:31 am | Permanent Link

Caleb & I have started this recently — reading one proverb a day together. In today’s world, for a old man like myself, it is fun texting him at school with what I get out of the Proverb.
It reminded me of this passage in Proverbs 2, one of the very first that I ever memorized […]

Beckham came to town, & Caleb got to see it…

Posted by greglarson in Friends, Los Angeles, family, sports at 8:41 am | Permanent Link

This morning, I am green with envy. My son Caleb got asked to go to Beckham’s inaugural game in L.A. last night.

A good friend of ours here in L.A., and someone that I get to work with — his name is Greg also — asked Caleb to go. He only had 2 tickets, and somehow […]
