Christmas thoughts

I pray that the truths of Advent will bring joy, hope, and peace to your heart this year. On this Christmas Eve, let me offer just a few of them for your consideration.

Because of Christmas, if you have lost a loved one in Christ this year, be assured that you will one day be together again:

“He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end” (Luke 1:32).

Because of Christmas, if you have blown it and failed and fallen and feel assaulted and accused by the adversary, be assured that your sins are forgiven and separated from you as far as the east is from the west (Psalm 103):

“You shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21).

Because of Christmas, if you desire to know the heart of the God who created the majesty of the universe, be assured that when you’ve seen Jesus, you’ve seen the Father:

“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14).

Because of Christmas, if you long for justice and peace and ultimately things set right, be assured that all of that and more is on the drawing board of the One who can and will make it happen:

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6).

(Thanks Jesus for a. . . ) Merry Christmas
