God wishes to be expected

This is just a small excerpt from Julian of Norwich’s ‘Showings’
“For it is God’s will that we believe that we see him continually, though it seems to us that the sight be only partial; and through this belief he makes us always to gain more grace, for God wishes to be seen, and he wishes to be sought, and he wishes to be expected, and he wishes to be trusted.”
Dallas Willard says this about seeing… ‘Seeing is no simple thing, of course. Often a great deal of knowledge, experience, imagination, patience, and receptivity are required…’   All I have to say about that is, isn’t that the truth. A great deal of experience & patience is required it feels like.
Seeing God by faith is no simple thing… to have the ‘receptivity’ if you will — to be able to sense God’s presence, and walk in our days in light of that, is truly no simple thing. But it really is a glorious pursuit. I want that more & more here in L.A. — to see God at work in my life, and at work in this city.
To even live in a way to expect that — for he wishes to be expected.
