This morning I read the following, and I remembered reading this a year ago. I had one of those moments when the whole of 2006 kind-of flashed through my mind. Some thoughts about 2006 were regarding the amazing things God did, some thoughts sad, some exciting, some confusing and some we’ll have to wait and see. I do remember on December 30, 2005 reading this however & it giving me much hope.

Psalm 147: 3-6 Praise his name with dancing, accompanied by tambourine and harp. For the LORD delights in his people; he crowns the humble with salvation. Let the faithful rejoice in this honor. Let them sing for joy as they lie on their beds. Let the praises of God be in their mouths, and a sharp sword in their hands—

Eugene Peterson: The ‘faithful’ shatter every modern stereotype of the pious saint. There is not a shred of timidity in them, not a vestige of solemnity about them — they whirl in dance, brandish swords, and raise exuberant songs of praise as they use every resource of voice and body to express delight in the God who delights in them.

Prayer: O god, forbid that I should ever turn your glorious gifts into something dull and humdrum. I want to be among your faithful who convincingly demonstrate the freedom with which you set us free, and exhibit the joy that can only be sung with a new song, in the name and Spirit of Jesus Christ. Amen.
