the most expensive coffe cup I’ve ever bought

So, this morning I was trying to do something kind for my wife Michelle…

She had bought a very basic Krups coffee pot for $10 last year, on one of those crazy ‘day-after-Thanksgiving sale’s’, and after almost exactly a year - its life expired. So, since we don’t have a coffee maker in our house yet, this morning after dropping the kids off at school — I stopped at Starbucks for maybe 3 minutes, to get her a cup of coffee to surprise her.
As I stopped and parked by Starbucks, I was in the middle of a phone conversation with a friend of mine from back in Minneapolis — Karl who works with the church (The Rock) that we both (along with many others) were a part of planting this church and worked for — for 6 years or so. I had met him while he was a student at the University of Minnesota, and I remember fondly many conversations that we had at the Big Ten at the U of Mn campus. Anway, after leaving Starbucks, and walking back to my car and finishing up my conversation I see something on the windshield.

A parking ticket — for $50 !! It seems that there is no parking on this particular street from 7:30a - 9:30a just on Wednesday’s! Who knew ??!!

$50 for the the MOST expensive cup of coffee ever. Oh well, it was great to connect with Karl, my wife got her coffee and now I need to go and write out a $50 check to drop in the mail.

After awhile, you do become a bit paranoid about parking in this area. I remember a few months ago I went to a concert in Pomona and saw that people were parking on the streets, so I did the same. I must have asked three or four random strangers ‘Are you sure its okay to park here?’ I started to get a few strange stares of people wondering what was wrong with me. What they didn’t realize is that free parking is only a figment of an Angeleno’s imagination!
